### It's that time of year again! In just a few weeks caps will be thrown into the air all across the country. Let's talk about that.

The average total cost of a 4-year degree from a state university is $108,000 to $182,000 depending on residency. Outrageously higher with private universities. According to recent statistics the average annual salary for a graduate with a 4-year degree in their first three years out of college is $55,000 to $65,000\. It slowly ramps up to about $70,000 to $85,000 after three years.

#### Let's talk about a different scenario.

Imagine opening a plug & play franchise business, with a proven brand, for your son or daughter upon graduation from high school, to run together as a family with your child taking the lead as you guide and support them.

There are many franchises you can be awarded for an all-in investment between $100,000 and $150,000 that have a documented history of producing near, or even above, one million dollars in annual top line revenue with average profit margins ranging from 25% to 50%. Many of these franchises can be fully ramped up to maximum potential in 3 to 5 years.

In this scenario, by the time your child's peers are graduating from college, four years later, your son or daughter could be the owner of a mature business generating 10 to 20 times in revenue what their peers will be earning in salary. By the time those peers reach year 4 out of college, 8 years after high school graduation, your child could have a business that is now a million-dollar (or more) asset that could be sold at a multiple many times the initial investment, or they could be ready to add a second business to their portfolio as an empire builder.

According to a white paper published by the [Franchise Brokers Association](https://www.linkedin.com/company/franchise-brokers-association/?ref=bizbuildermagazine.com) in 2024, business owners reach millionaire status an average of 20 years sooner than employee savers.

**What if you could help your graduate be a millionaire by age 30 for about the same investment you’d make into their college degree?**

Maybe it's time to normalize investing into family businesses instead of family college tuitions?
