Bar-B-Clean is excited to welcome the newest franchisee, Ken Miller!

Ken Miller brings more than 15 years of sales leadership experience, primarily within the healthcare industry. His career began as a financial analyst, leveraging his actuarial education and strong analytical foundation before advancing into leadership roles focused on driving growth, building high-performing teams, and delivering strategic results.

Prior to his professional career, Ken gained valuable management experience in retail, and he also successfully operated a small IT consulting firm, further expanding his business and entrepreneurial expertise.

With a long-standing interest in franchising, Ken is passionate about business ownership, operational excellence, and helping organizations achieve sustainable success.

Outside of work, he enjoys exploring local supper clubs, playing Dungeons & Dragons, gardening, and perfecting his pit barbecue techniques. Ken lives with his wife and daughter and values spending quality time with family and friends.

Most people think about grill maintenance when they notice the buildup, which is usually long after they should have.

The residue left behind after cooking, charred grease, food particles, and carbonized drippings, does not simply burn off the next time you fire up the grill. It accumulates in layers, and over time it creates a surface that transfers unwanted material directly onto whatever you cook next.

Beyond the unpleasant taste, old grease that has been repeatedly heated and reheated can produce compounds that are not good for you, and carbon buildup on grates can flake off onto food in ways that are difficult to see and easy to ingest.

The health concerns are real and worth taking seriously. Studies have linked the consumption of heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), both of which form when meat is cooked at high temperatures over accumulated grease and charred residue, to increased cancer risk over time. A dirty grill also creates flare-up conditions that can char food more aggressively than intended, compounding the problem.

Beyond chemistry, a grill that has not been cleaned is also a hospitable environment for bacteria, particularly if food residue sat on it between uses.
